Travis is a RCSWI therapist at Better Care Counseling. He is passionate about providing services for clients by meeting the client where they are and developing collaborative treatment plans that align with shared goals identified during session in order to improve client functioning.
Travis attended Fordham University in New York City where he obtained a dual Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and Sociology as well as a Master’s in Social Work from Fordham’s graduate School of Social Services. His curriculum included 1200 hours of field experience and since graduating in 2017 he has continued to expand on this experience from advocating for families in school systems, housing court, and identifying resources to Social Worker roles in a clinical setting. He is currently pursuing accreditation in order to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Florida under the supervision of Michelle Aletkin, MSW, LCSW. Travis also continues to update his knowledge with current literature relevant to the field in order to provide the most current, evidenced based clinical service.
Travis has worked with clients with a wide range of struggles including depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, obsessions and compulsions, post-traumatic stress, as well as those having difficulty with medical issues (GJ Tubes, legally blind, spina bifida etc.) and also with LGBTQ+ issues, adjustment issues, grief and those who have experienced trauma.
Travis believes in a client centered approach and utilizes a strengths perspective to ground progress in already existing strengths, while also building on compounding skills. He also utilizes a Cognitive Behavioral approach, an evidence-based approach that focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns that impact client functioning.
