Michelle is the senior therapist, trainer, qualified supervisor and founder of Better Care Counseling. She was and still is truly inspired by the motivation to provide excellent services with measurable results while also helping clients and team members to learn the important benefits of practicing consistent self care. Michelle genuinely believes in “lighting the way to Better self Care.” She is licensed as a Clinical Social Worker in the state of Florida with over 15 years of experience working as a psychotherapist. Michelle is originally from New York where she received her Bachelors in Psychology and Masters in Social Work. Since then, she has consistently continued her education to stay up to date on the best ways to assist in the change process. As a result, she has extensive training in specialized treatment approaches and maintains certifications as well as pursuing her doctorate. She specializes working with clients with a wide range of struggles including depression, anxiety, panic, obsessions and compulsions, post traumatic stress, as well as those having difficulty with medical issues (diabetes, fertility, etc.) and also with relationship or adjustment issues, life transitions, grief and those who have experienced trauma. She has an extensive background in and continues to help many first responders who witnessed multiple traumatic events as part of their work and assisting them to improve their ability to cope with such exposure and the remaining memories.
Michelle’s overall approach focuses on the individual needs of the client, utilizing approaches as appropriate, such as Solution Focused and Cognitive Behavioral approach as well as EMDR. Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence based approach that uses bilateral stimulation to reprocess memories or issues causing distress, helping us to overcome them.
Adam is the Operations Manager that has been working behind the scenes for years and as a result became inspired to have the opportunity to work directly with clients in their change process. Better Care Counseling is very excited that Adam is now joining the team as a health coach intern! He is currently attending the school of Functional Medicine Coaching Academy and will be available for scheduling very soon!! Adam will be providing medical and health plan coaching as well as offering support in between therapy sessions. There are many examples where most of us are highly motivated after seeing inspiring media content, attending a meeting, training, or therapy session but within days, lose momentum and get derailed. This is a much needed resource that although beneficial, is not offered by most practices and Adam is extremely excited to fill this needed role. His ideal clients are those who are looking for assistance with creating and executing actions plans for lasting behavioral changes. Sometimes people have the plan created or prescribed by their health care provider but are truly struggling with following through on those helpful recommendations. Adam’s role is to assist in the daily focus of self care and slow, consistent action. Some clients do not need therapy which focuses on the emotional barriers we often face, instead he is solely focused on motivational health care and goal achievement. However, if emotional issues come up, there are therapists available. In addition, he offers a significantly reduced rate to enable clients to have a contact person in between their therapy sessions in order to further assist in attaining treatment goals. He will be scheduling a meet a greet very soon as well as offering motivational health groups to educate those interested in making easy changes that could lead to healthier lives!!!
