Gina Carrillo, MHCI
Hello! My name is Gina Carrillo. I am Colombian-American, speak some Spanish, and live in Clearwater, FL. I am completing my last year of my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University, New England, and have already earned a certificate in trauma counseling. In addition, I have a diploma in hypnotherapy and certificates in mind-body medicine, integrative health and nutrition coaching, and Reiki.
I realized long ago that almost everyone has some sort of trauma that can affect your mental and physical health, whether you are consciously aware of it or not. This is the reason I pursued specialized training in trauma counseling. In addition, mental health can affect your physical health and vice versa. This is why I resonate with approaches like somatic experiencing therapy, mindfulness, and EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing), and EFT (emotion-focused therapy). However, I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approaches as well, as they have been proven to be very effective.
Helping others grow, find their power, and heal is what motivates me as a psychotherapist and a person. I have a very holistic, caring, whole-person and heart-centered, culturally-sensitive, LGBTQ+ affirming, empathic, and intuitive approach. It is my goal is to combine the right approaches to provide well-rounded mind-body care and support. Whether you are coping with stress, anxiety, trauma, body image, depression, grief and loss (human or animal), health problems, chronic pain, women’s issues, career and life changes, or just need someone to help you through a tough time, I am here to partner with you through compassion and empathy to find the best way forward.
