Michelle is the senior therapist, trainer, qualified supervisor and founder of Better Care Counseling. She was and still is truly inspired by the motivation to provide excellent services with measurable results while also helping clients and team members to learn the important benefits of practicing consistent self care. Michelle genuinely believes in “lighting the way to Better self Care.” She is licensed as a Clinical Social Worker in the state of Florida with over 15 years of experience working as a psychotherapist. Michelle is originally from New York where she received her Bachelors in Psychology and Masters in Social Work. Since then, she has consistently continued her education to stay up to date on the best ways to assist in the change process. As a result, she has extensive training in specialized treatment approaches and maintains certifications as well as pursuing her doctorate. She specializes working with clients with a wide range of struggles including depression, anxiety, panic, obsessions and compulsions, post traumatic stress, as well as those having difficulty with medical issues (diabetes, fertility, etc.) and also with relationship or adjustment issues, life transitions, grief and those who have experienced trauma. She has an extensive background in and continues to help many first responders who witnessed multiple traumatic events as part of their work and assisting them to improve their ability to cope with such exposure and the remaining memories.
Michelle’s overall approach focuses on the individual needs of the client, utilizing approaches as appropriate, such as Solution Focused and Cognitive Behavioral approach as well as EMDR. Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence based approach that uses bilateral stimulation to reprocess memories or issues causing distress, helping us to overcome them.
